This year KanKouran will present its 27th Annual African Dance and Drum Festival, Blessings!: Circle of Praise. The festival will take place at the Washington Plaza Hotel in Washington, DC, September 3 - 5, 2010.
KanKouran’s annual African dance and drum festival offers festival attendees a chance to experience the sights and sounds of West Africa. KanKouran invites you to become part of its African marketplace. This is great opportunity for your products, services and ideas to be embraced by the creative individuals attending the annual African dance and drum festival.
To become a KanKouran vendor, please follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Vending Process:
Step 1: Read Vending Process and Policies
Thank you for your interest in KanKouran’s Annual African Dance and Drum festival! The vending team manages all vending registrations. Should you have any questions or need support, please do not hesitate to contact the vending team at vending[AT]kankouran[DOT]org.
Step 2: Apply to Vend
The festival marketplace will be open during the following times at the Washington Plaza Hotel. The fee will be $80 per table/per day. Each vendor will be provided with one 6-foot rectangular table. Vendors may share or purchase multiple tables (2 table maximum per vendor per day).
Vending Hours:
Friday, September 3rd: 4pm – 9pm
Saturday, September 4th: 10am – 6pm
Sunday, September 5th: 10am – 9pm
- If you want to vend more than one day, you must select the ticket for each day. For example: To vend all 3 days, buy a ticket for Friday, a ticket for Saturday, and a ticket for Sunday.
- If you want to reserve more than one table, you must select the quantity that reflects the number of tables you want. For example: To reserve two tables on Saturday, buy a Saturday ticket with quantity “2”.
NOTE:
- Vending of food and/or beverages will not be permitted at the 2010 African and Drum Festival, or anywhere on the premises of Washington Plaza Hotel.
- Vending opportunities are only available at the Washington Plaza Hotel.
After selecting your choice from above, we will ask for vendor information (Name, description, contact information).
Your vending application will be considered complete when we
receive ALL of the requested information AND the corresponding vending fee. Space
reservation is limited and will be made available on a first come/first served basis. Paying the vending fee guarantees your space for the day(s) you for which you have paid.
By submitting your registration and payment, you are certifying that you read this application in its entirety, understand the content, have retained the policies for vendor participation, and will comply with all of its terms.
Step 3: Receive KanKouran 2010 Vending Opportunities Confirmation and Receipt
Once you submit your payment, you will receive an e-mail order confirmation (from Eventbrite) and a receipt (from PayPal). If your application is not accepted, you will receive e-mail notification from the vending team and your fee will be refunded.
Step 4: E-mail Acknowledgement Receipt to Vending Team
A week before the event, the vending team will e-mail the Vendor Information Kit. Once you have received the e-mail, you must e-mail a reply documenting that you have read the information in the message.
Step 5: Vend!
When you arrive at the conference, your space will be reserved for the day(s) for which you have paid.
You are responsible for reading, understanding and meeting all guidelines and compliance set forth in the Vendor Information kit. Should you have any questions, please contact the vending team. Best wishes for a successful event!
Vendor Policies
The fee must be paid in advance of arrival at the venue and vendor set-up. There are no exceptions. Vendors who have not completed the registration will not be permitted to vend.
Vending of food and/or beverages will not be permitted at the 2010 African and Drum Festival or anywhere on the premises of Washington Plaza Hotel.
Vendors may share or purchase multiple tables (2 table maximum per vendor).
Vending is only available in the designated vending area. There will be no vending permitted at this year's concert.

All vendors are expected to adhere to the vending, set-up, and breakdown hours. Please plan to arrive early so you can arrange your vending space during set-up hours. If you know that you will need to set-up outside of these hours, please contact the vending team.
All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or adult over the age of 18.

Business/Organization/Vendor certifies that they read this application in its entirety, understand the content, have retained the policies for exhibitor participation, and will comply with all of its terms. KanKouran retains the right to terminate vendor agreement at any time during the term of the applicant’s use if: (A) Applicant is found to have falsified any information contained in this application; (B) Applicant is found to have changed and/or added to the use described in this application; (C) Applicant’s use of the premises in any way interferes with the orderly and successful conduct of the festival; (D) Applicant violates any of the above mentioned policies.

FAQs
What are the dimensions of the vending spaces and tables?
Each vendor will receive one 6-foot table for each vending space. You will receive an update by e-mail when more information becomes available.
Where will the vending location be (in reference to festival activities)?
The vending area/marketplace will be next door to the dance and drum classes on the lobby level of the hotel.
Can I set-up the night before I am scheduled to vend?
No. You will only be allowed to set-up during the set-up times on the days for which you have paid. Please adhere to the vending hours noted above.
What happens if my vending application is not approved?
You will be issued a refund.
There are no more vending spots available. What do I do?
Once all the vending spots have been filled, we will create a waiting list. Please select the waiting list ticket and we will contact you only if a spot becomes available. NOTE: The system will automatically send you an order confirmation. This confirmation does not grant you permission to vend. Your vending application is considered complete when we receive ALL of the requested information AND the corresponding vending fee.
